Romanian Embassy in Canada
Brief history

The diplomatic relations between Romania and Canada were established on August 16, 1919 when the General Consulate of Romania was established in Montreal.
Bilateral relations at embassy level were initiated on April 3, 1967. Canada commissioned its first resident ambassador in Romania in December 1976. Romania’s Embassy in Ottawa was opened in 1970. In 1991, the General Consulate of Romania started to operate in Toronto, while the General Consulate in Montreal regained its initial functions. The bilateral relations between Romania and Canada are currently characterized by an enhanced political dialogue and cooperation focused on domains of highly strategic importance for our country.

The Romanian Student Association's goal is to promote Romanian traditions and culture and to bring together members of the Romanian-Canadian community on campus by providing students with the opportunity to appreciate the culture, history and language through various activities.
RSA-AER has been founded by students, and it is run by student volunteers.

IZVORUL Romanian Dance Troupe of Ottawa was founded in March 2010. The Troupe quickly became a fast-growing pillar in the Romanian community of Ottawa-Gatineau, showcasing Romanian culture and talent while promoting multiculturalism.
Our members have the opportunity to learn, practice and interpret on stage Romanian Folkloric dances, as well as other styles of dance. We welcome members of all ages and nationalities, and are always looking for new dancers (beginner or advanced)!
The RDTO currently has over 20 active and dedicated members who will delight you with a taste of Romania's art and culture.
